White Moebe frames leaning on a shelf against a grey wall, holding pressed plants and a colourful print

Moebe Frame

Last updated: 23 October 2026

The Moebe Frame is a picture frame made from four strips of wood or aluminium, two sheets of clear acrylic and one rubber band. The band holds the frame together and also hangs it on the wall, and because both sides are clear the picture seems to float. Really Well Made sells it in the UK from £28 for an A5 in aluminium up to £84 for an A2 in oak.

What the Moebe Frame is

Moebe is a Danish design brand, and the Frame is its take on the picture frame cut down to the parts that do a job. You sandwich a print, photo or pressed leaf between the two acrylic sheets. Then the four side strips go on and a rubber band wraps round the back to hold the layers tight.

The same band loops over a nail or hook to hang it. You can turn the frame to landscape or portrait, and it can be seen from both sides, so it also works in a window.

What it does

  • Floats the picture: clear acrylic on both sides means the wall shows round the edges of the artwork.
  • Hangs without fixings: the rubber band doubles as the hanging loop, so one nail or hook is enough.
  • Turns either way: it hangs or leans in landscape or portrait.
  • Changes in seconds: take off the band and the strips to swap the picture.

  • Parts: four side strips, two acrylic sheets and a rubber band

Who the Moebe Frame suits

  • People who press flowers or collect postcards: the clear back shows off thin, flat things that a mount would hide.
  • Renters: it needs one hook rather than a row of fixings.
  • Anyone buying a print as a present: an A4 or A3 frame turns a print into a finished gift.

If you are looking for something to put in it, our guide to affordable art in the UK lists prints and originals under £500.

The limits

There is no mount and no glass. The picture sits straight against the acrylic, so a print with no white border fills the frame edge to edge rather than floating.

The rubber band stays visible above the frame where it loops over the hook, so it will not suit a wall where you want the fixing hidden.

Really Well Made only stocks the A sizes. For 40 x 50cm, 50 x 70cm or the coloured finishes you need Moebe's own shop. And on 23 October some A5 finishes, including both untreated woods, were sold out at Really Well Made.

Where to buy the Moebe Frame in the UK

Really Well Made, a UK design shop, sells the A5 to A2 sizes in six finishes in pounds. Moebe's own Frame page has the full range of sizes and colours. I struggled to find the Moebe Frame on Amazon UK.
