How the AKT discount code works

AKT runs a refer-a-friend scheme instead of public discount codes. If you arrive through a referral link, you get 15% off your first order.

1. Click the referral link on this page. It opens AKT's referral page, which shows the 15% offer.
2. Accept the referral cookie when the banner asks, because that is how AKT knows who sent you.
3. Shop as normal and the 15% comes off at checkout.

What AKT London makes

Ed Currie and Andy Coxon met in 2015 while performing in a West End show, doing eight shows a week under hot lights. Neither of them could find a deodorant that kept up, so they spent three years developing their own.

The result is The Deodorant Balm. You massage a small amount into the skin, and it dries to an invisible powder that absorbs sweat and deals with odour. It contains no aluminium salts, so it is a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant. AKT says it is vegan, cruelty free and suitable for all genders.

The tube and the cap are both aluminium, so there is no plastic in the packaging. As a result the cap cannot pierce the seal, so you open a new tube with a pen or AKT's metal key, The Assistant.

AKT says one 50ml tube lasts six to eight weeks with daily use. At £21, that works out at roughly 38p to 50p a day.

If you cannot choose, the Discovery Set holds the five numbered scents as minis. AKT says each one lasts about a week.

After your first AKT order

The 15% referral discount covers your first order. If you then want regular deliveries, AKT's subscribe and save gives 15% off every tube and free UK delivery, every six, eight or ten weeks. You can swap scents, pause or cancel.

The limits of the AKT balm

It is a balm, so you apply it with your fingers or with AKT's separate Applicator. Marie Claire's reviewer found the formula thick and paste-like, and said she would prefer a stick. She also found the Applicator and The Assistant fiddly on a busy morning.
