What the Polaroid Now+ Gen 3 is

Polaroid announced the third generation of the Now and Now+ on 4 March 2025. The Now+ is the step up from the plain Now: it looks the same, but it adds Bluetooth and the Polaroid app.

For Generation 3, Polaroid upgraded the ranging sensor, flash and autofocus. Polaroid says this gives clearer pictures, even on very sunny days. The body also uses 40% recycled plastics.

What it does

  • Two-zone autofocus: the camera picks between two focus zones, 0.40m to 1.3m for close shots and 1.0m to infinity for everything else.
  • App control: the Polaroid app adds aperture priority, manual mode, double exposure, a self-timer and a remote shutter.
  • Six apertures: from f64 to f11, so you can choose how much light gets in when you shoot in manual.
  • Tripod mount: useful for self-timer group shots and longer exposures.
  • Rechargeable battery: a lithium-ion battery that charges over USB-C and lasts up to 15 packs of film per charge.

Who it suits

  • People who want more than point and shoot: the app opens up manual settings and double exposures.

The limits

Film is the real running cost. A pack of Polaroid Color i-Type film is £16.99 on Polaroid UK and holds 8 photos, so each shot costs about £2.

Also, this Amazon listing is the camera only, with no film in the box.

In addition, lens filters are not included. Polaroid sells a five-piece Now and Now+ filter set separately, and it lists this camera as compatible.

Finally, the camera weighs 452g before film, so it is a bag camera rather than a pocket one.
