Chris Ofili is the Manchester-born painter, now living in Trinidad, who won the Turner Prize in 1998. Here you will find our take on his work, where it is on show, and the signed Tate print you can buy for £600.
Our take on Chris Ofili
Ofili won the Turner Prize in 1998, the first painter to do so since Howard Hodgkin in 1985, according to Tate.
He moved to Trinidad, where he still lives and works, according to Victoria Miro, and his later paintings take in its landscape and myths. He represented Britain at the 2003 Venice Biennale.
His work is in The 90s at Tate Britain now, and a major survey opens at the Hayward Gallery in September 2027. Tate sells Siesta of the Soul, a signed print of his own poem, in an edition of 500.
