Sam Taylor-Johnson, who first exhibited as Sam Taylor-Wood, is the British photographer and filmmaker shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1998. Here you will find our take on her work and the signed Tate photograph you can buy.

Our take on Sam Taylor-Johnson

She was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1998 as Sam Taylor-Wood, in the year Chris Ofili won.

For Tate Modern’s opening in 2000 she made Red, part of Tate’s Ten Artists, Ten Images portfolio. It shows a member of the curatorial team in the red seats of the Starr auditorium, with the camera where the screen would be, “to examine the process of looking”, as Tate puts it.

That photograph is still on sale from Tate as a signed edition of 50.
