Mary Ramsden is the North Yorkshire painter whose large abstract canvases are on show at Pilar Corrias. Here you will find our take on her work, her current London show and where to buy.
Our take on Mary Ramsden
Ramsden paints large abstract canvases in a converted barn in North Yorkshire. Her 2015 show Swipe linked her marks to the swipe and smear of fingers on a phone screen.
Her 2026 show, The Feeling of What Happens, turns to consciousness and light. In notes published by Pilar Corrias, she writes: “When I start a painting I usually begin with an attitude I want to translate.”
The nine paintings are all from 2026 and all oil on canvas, the largest of them 230 x 180 cm (90.6 x 70.9 in).
