Soapy Drama is a small giclée print by the London artist and designer Stiven Skyrah. It borrows the aerial map of the Thames from the EastEnders opening titles and swaps the logo for one word: "Eastbenders". What the Soapy Drama print shows
The image is a satellite view of east London, with the river curling through the Isle of Dogs and Greenwich. It is the shot every EastEnders viewer knows from the soap's title sequence.
Where the soap's name would sit, white serif letters spell "Eastbenders". The pun takes a swipe at the way mainstream TV has often reduced gay characters to sexualised clichés.
Each print is finished by hand with small touches of micro glitter, so the surface catches the light in a way a flat poster does not.
