CK One is the Calvin Klein eau de toilette that launched in 1994 as a fragrance for anyone, and it is still easy to buy in the UK. This page used to feature Boy Smells' Violet Ends, but I struggled to find any UK stockist for Boy Smells fragrance, so CK One is the shared scent I would point you to instead. Amazon UK has the 100ml bottle for £18.24, sold by Amazon.

Why CK One replaces Boy Smells here
Boy Smells is a Los Angeles brand that calls its scents "genderful". Its Violet Ends fragrance now sells only on its US website, and neither Amazon UK, Selfridges nor Cult Beauty stocks it. In contrast, CK One is easy to buy in the UK and costs a fraction of the price.
It also shares some of the same ideas. Violet Ends had violet, orris and black tea at its heart. CK One has violet and orris in its heart, with green tea in the base.
What CK One is
Calvin Klein launched CK One in 1994, and the perfumers were Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont. According to Marie Claire UK, it was the first fragrance openly marketed for men and women, under the line "A fragrance for a man or a woman". The adverts featured Kate Moss, Stella Tennant and Jenny Shimizu.
It was a hit straight away. Wikipedia records more than $5 million in sales in its first 10 days.
What it smells like
- Top: lemon, bergamot, mandarin, pineapple, papaya and cardamom, so it opens bright and citrusy.
- Heart: violet, orris root, nutmeg, jasmine, rose and lily of the valley.
- Base: green tea, musk, cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss and amber, which make it warmer and softer as it dries down.

The limits
As an eau de toilette, it fades faster than a parfum. Amazon's own listing rates its longevity as medium, so expect to top it up later in the day.
It is also everywhere. If you want a scent that nobody else in the room is wearing, this is not it.
Finally, it is fresher and lighter than Violet Ends. If the smoky tobacco and leather side of Boy Smells was what you liked, CK One will not give you that.
Where to buy it in the UK
Amazon UK sells and ships both sizes, with free delivery. The 100ml bottle has an RRP of £57, so the Amazon price is a big saving.
