What the Nothing Headphone (1) are

Nothing is a phone and audio brand known for see-through designs. On the Headphone (1), a clear panel on each earcup shows some of the parts underneath.

Inside are 40mm drivers tuned with KEF, and KEF audited the drivers, chambers and software in its labs. Instead of touch controls, there are physical ones: a roller for volume, a paddle to skip tracks and a button you can set up yourself.

What they do

  • Noise cancelling: hybrid cancelling with feedforward and feedback microphones, which Nothing says checks your surroundings every 600 milliseconds and adjusts.
  • Battery: up to 80 hours with cancelling off, or 35 hours with it on.
  • Fast charging: 5 minutes of charging gives up to 5 hours of listening.
  • Wired listening: USB-C audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz, plus a 3.5mm jack, though the headphones must be switched on to play through either.
  • Higher-quality Bluetooth: LDAC for Android phones that support it, plus AAC and SBC.

Key facts about the Nothing Headphone (1)

  • Price: £249 from Nothing and Amazon UK, down from £299 at launch
  • Colours: black and white
  • Drivers: 40mm dynamic, tuned with KEF
  • Battery: 80 hours with cancelling off, 35 hours with it on
  • Bluetooth: 5.3, with LDAC, AAC and SBC
  • Weight: 329g, about the same as a full 330ml can of fizzy drink
  • Folding: the earcups rotate flat but do not fold in

Who the Nothing Headphone (1) suit

  • Long-haul travellers: 35 hours with cancelling on covers a return flight from London to New York with hours to spare.
  • Android owners with LDAC: they get higher-quality Bluetooth than AAC alone.
  • People who hate touch controls: the roller, paddle and button work by feel.

Stiv has worn a pair for eight months, and his Nothing Headphone (1) review covers how they have held up.

The limits

What Hi-Fi gave them 3 for sound, with 4 each for build and features, in its January 2026 review. Its reviewers called the sound full-bodied and detailed, but found cheaper rivals more entertaining to listen to.

The fit is not always secure, according to the same review, so try a pair on before a long trip if you can.

They do not fold in, so they take up more room in a bag than a folding pair. And Nothing now sells the Headphone (1) Pro at £349 above them, so the (1) are no longer its top model.

Where to buy the Nothing Headphone (1) in the UK

Amazon UK sells them sold and dispatched by Amazon, at the same £249 as Nothing's own shop. Nothing's Headphone (1) page has both colours, and What Hi-Fi's review has the full test results.
