Quinton and Chadwick Graph Scarf laid flat, one half red with a pink grid and the other pink with a red grid

Quinton & Chadwick Graph Scarf

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The Quinton Chadwick Graph Scarf is a lambswool scarf with a grid knitted into it, and the colours swap over on the back. In the Winter Beach colourway that means red lines on pink on one side and pink lines on red on the other. The yarn is spun in Yorkshire and the scarf is made in Scotland. On 12 October 2026 the Quinton & Chadwick shop had it at £80, in stock.

What the Quinton Chadwick Graph Scarf is

Quinton & Chadwick is a British knitwear label run by Jess Quinton and Jane Chadwick. They work only with small British mills. Jess Quinton trained in knitwear at the Royal College of Art and then worked for Missoni, so colour and pattern lead the range.

The Graph Scarf is one of their cut edge scarves. Because the grid is knitted in rather than printed, the back is the reverse of the front. Quinton & Chadwick describe it as two scarves in one, so you can wear whichever side suits the coat.

What it does

  • Two colour schemes in one scarf: flip it over and the ground colour and the grid colour change places.
  • Warmth from wool: it is 100% lambswool, lightly felted, which the maker says makes it softer.
  • Long enough to wrap: at 205cm it wraps twice round the neck with the ends still hanging.
  • No yarn waste: Quinton & Chadwick design their cut edge scarves so the knitting process leaves zero yarn waste.

Key facts

  • Price: £80 from Quinton & Chadwick and from the Southbank Centre Shop
  • Material: 100% lambswool, spun in Yorkshire
  • Made in: Scotland, designed in the Quinton & Chadwick studio in Suffolk
  • Size: 20 x 205cm, so about as wide as a sheet of A4 and a little longer than a standard UK door is tall
  • Finish: lightly felted
  • Colourways: Winter Beach (red and pink), Moorland (chocolate and dusky lilac) and Forest (blackberry and dusky blue-grey)

Who it suits

  • People who wear a dark winter coat every day: the Winter Beach colours give a navy or black coat some contrast.
  • Gift buyers who cannot pick a colour: the reversible grid gives the recipient two looks, so a wrong guess matters less.

The limits

£80 is a lot for a scarf without cashmere in it. You are paying for British mills and small production runs, not for a luxury fibre.

Some people find wool itchy against the neck. If the person you are buying for only wears cotton or silk next to their neck, a wool scarf may stay in the drawer.

Stock is small. On 12 October 2026 the Quinton & Chadwick shop had all three colourways in stock, and the Southbank Centre Shop carried Winter Beach and Forest, not Moorland.

Delivery adds to the price. Quinton & Chadwick only offers free UK shipping on orders over £300, and the Southbank Centre Shop sets its free delivery line at £100.

Where to buy it in the UK

The Quinton & Chadwick shop sells all three colourways at £80. The Southbank Centre Shop has Winter Beach and Forest at the same price, which helps if you are already adding something to reach its £100 free delivery line.

If you would rather give a scarf with an artwork on it, the Hurvin Anderson silk scarf from Tate is printed with one of his paintings instead of a knitted pattern.
