National Art Pass gift membership

Last updated: 23 October 2026

A National Art Pass gift is 12 months of Art Fund membership for someone else: free entry to more than 250 museums, galleries and historic houses across the UK, and 50% off major exhibitions. A gift for one person costs £87, or £53 if they are 30 or under, and the money supports Art Fund's grants to museums.

What a National Art Pass gift is

Art Fund is the UK charity that raises money to help museums buy and share art. The National Art Pass is its membership card, and most of the places it gets you into have had Art Fund grants.

The gift version is a one-off payment for a year. You choose free delivery, next-day delivery or a custom start date at checkout, so it can arrive in time for a birthday or Christmas.

What the pass gets them

  • Free entry: to more than 250 museums, galleries and historic houses that usually charge.
  • 50% off major exhibitions: including big shows at national museums, which is where the saving adds up.
  • Shop and café offers: discounts at many museum shops and cafés.
  • Art Map and Art Quarterly: a guidebook to every place the pass works, plus a year of Art Fund's magazine.

National Art Pass gift prices

  • Individual: £87 for 12 months, one card
  • Under 30: £53 for 12 months, one card, for members aged 30 and under
  • Double: £130 for 12 months, two cards for two adults at the same address
  • Plus One add-on: £49, so the member can bring a different guest each visit
  • Plus Kids add-on: £15, adding member benefits for children under 16

These are Art Fund's rates from 1 January 2026. Members buying for themselves can pay by Direct Debit and save 25% in the first year, but gifts are one-off payments at the full price.

Who the gift suits

  • Regular exhibition-goers: half-price tickets add up over a year of major shows.
  • Students and under-30s: the £53 Under 30 pass gives the same benefits for less.
  • Couples: the Double pass covers two adults at one address for £130.

The limits

Many of the UK's biggest national museums are already free, so the free-entry part matters most outside London and at paid venues. The real saving in London comes from the 50% off exhibitions.

The pass halves exhibition prices rather than making them free. Shortlist's guide to culture memberships reckons a handful of major exhibitions should cover much of the annual fee.

A gift covers 12 months. Art Fund has a separate route for renewing a gift, so plan to renew it yourself if you want to give it again next year.
