A curated anti-Covid toolkit for crisis navigation to help everyone stay safe.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) has hit the world hard, and no matter your political stance there's no denying that the U.K. has been badly affected. So far over 50,000 people have died in the U.K.

But how do we stay safe in these unprecedented times? Are there any tools or products that are really helpful? How do we know what to believe in a world filled with misinformation and confusing rhetoric?

Fear not friend. Here at COOLCURATION, we've scoured the internet to come up with a curated anti-Covid toolkit to help you navigate this historic period.

Toolkit item 1: The NHS COVID app - £0

We know this one seems obvious, but with misinformation abound many people haven't downloaded the app yet. This is possibly the number one thing you can do to protect yourself and others. There have been legitimate concerns about the privacy implications of this app. The original plan of a centralised data set would indeed have given unprecedented access to our locations. Not to mention severely affecting our phones battery lives. Fortunately for us, the likes of Google and Apple were strongly opposed to that method and thus the end result is a fully decentralised design. It's by no means perfect and still has its' issues. However, installing and running the app is one of the best things you can do to stay safe right now.

Toolkit item 2: Antiviral (and anti-Covid) hand sanitiser - £19.50

By now we've tried quite a few hand santisers, from ones that have dried out our skin to others that smell terrible. Hand's down the best of the bunch (see what I did there) is from Beauty kitchen. It smells amazing (peppermint and Aloe Vera) is fully vegan, cruelty-free, moisturising. To top it all off it comes in refillable bottles that will save you money and save the planet. You can return their bottles to them by printing a free label or by taking them into your local Holland and Barrett. Beauty kitchen are also a certified BCorp (which we LOVE).

Toolkit item 3: A reusable protective mask - £25

Since before the crisis I've been wearing a mask from the Cambridge mask company as I originally bought it for pollution protection while out and about walking. These masks are the best you will ever find, they filter more than 99% of all bacteria, viruses and air pollutants. Use an exclusive "military grade filter technology" and becuase they're reusable without needing washing they're great for your carbon footprint too.

Toolkit item 4: StatGear Hygiene hand- $24.99

Limiting exposure to germs is extremely important right now. To that end StatGear developed the Hygiene Hand. An EDC tool designed by an NYC paramedic to help reduce the number of things you have to touch every day. The simple and effective design uses a finger hole, hook and button pusher tip so you can open doors, push ATM, elevator and credit card buttons without having to physically touch anything with your hands. Since it’s made out of solid brass which is naturally antimicrobial, the time the virus can live on it is limited to hours instead of days.

Toolkit item 5: Toilet roll supplies - £24

For some reason as soon as the crisis got into full swing and the UK got locked down half the country seemed to go out and panic purchase toilet roll. While we're not exactly sure why that was the case, we didn't find ourselves short thanks to our subscription to Whogivesacrapp. The BCorp certified toilet paper delivery service that also donates 50% of its profits to building toilets. Bum wiping never felt so satisfying.

Toolkit item 6: A stock of human fuel (or food) - £45

Staying healthy while staying indoors has been a particularly hard challenge. As has navigated the supermarkets with these new in/out policies and endless queues. If you're anything like us occasionally we can't be bothered to wait in a queue at a supermarket and we've found an alternate solution to that ever tempting urge to order from Deliveroo. Our last toolkit item is HUEL (or human fuel). If you keep some in stock it's a great fallback, extremely healthy, fully vegan and also quite good for quick lunch. They have greatly extended their range and it now includes a delicious hot and savoury version and an ever-growing selection of flavoured bars.
