What the LEGO Hubble Space Telescope is

LEGO released the set in the UK on 1 August 2026. It models the real telescope, which Space Shuttle Discovery carried into orbit on 24 April 1990. Hubble is a joint project between NASA and the European Space Agency, and astronauts serviced it on five missions between 1993 and 2009.

What it does

  • Instrument bay: take off the outer panels to see gyroscopes plus the primary and secondary mirrors.
  • Moving parts: the solar arrays and antennas pose, and the aperture door opens.
  • Display stand: with an information plaque.
  • Astronaut minifigure: shows the scale of the real telescope.
  • 3D instructions: the LEGO Builder app lets you rotate and zoom each step.

Who the LEGO Hubble suits

  • Space fans: it recreates the real telescope, down to the mirrors inside.
  • Adult builders: at 1,252 pieces it is a mid-sized Icons set, and it ends up as a display piece with a stand.
  • Anyone who missed the LEGO ISS: it fills the space set gap on the shelf now that the International Space Station kit has gone.

The limits

Once you finish the build, the panels cover most of the instrument bay. Brick Fanatics found that the panels do not come off easily, so you rarely see the inside again.

The model is mostly grey. That matches the real telescope, but it looks plain next to more colourful sets.

Brick Fanatics also found some parts fragile mid-build, so you may rebuild a few sections.

There is only one minifigure. Also, at 38cm square it needs a decent amount of shelf space.

Where to buy it in the UK

Amazon UK sells it, sold and dispatched by Amazon, and had it at £104.99 on 5 October 2026. That is £15 under LEGO's own price. The full details are on the LEGO UK product page.
