Mondaine stop2go Wi-Fi wall clock, the Swiss railway clock face with a red second hand in an aluminium case

Mondaine stop2go Wi-Fi Wall Clock, 25cm

Last updated: 31 October 2026

The Mondaine stop2go Wi-Fi clock is the Swiss railway station clock at 25cm across, with the red second hand that pauses at 12 while the minute hand jumps on. You set it once over Wi-Fi from your phone, and after that it switches between summer and winter time by itself. It costs £289 direct from Mondaine. I checked the price at Mondaine UK on 13 October 2026.

How the stop2go movement works

The red second hand sweeps round the dial rather than ticking. Then, as Mondaine puts it, "Its sweeping iconic red second hand temporarily stops for 2 seconds when it reaches 12, so that the minute hand can gracefully jump to the next minute."

So the minute hand moves once a minute, in a single step, instead of creeping round. Mondaine says the clock keeps the functionality of the original Swiss railways clock.

The Swiss railway clock and Hans Hilfiker

According to Mondaine, "In 1944 the Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker invented the Swiss railways clock." The red second hand became its best-known feature.

Mondaine sells the same face on watches as well as wall clocks. For example, the Mondaine Classic 40mm puts it on a wrist.

Setting up the Mondaine stop2go Wi-Fi clock

Setup happens once, over Wi-Fi, using your phone. Mondaine links setup videos for both iPhone and Android on its product page.

However, the Swiss railways shop says the clock only joins 2.4GHz networks. So before you start, check that your router has its 2.4GHz network switched on.

The same shop says "the switch from daylight saving time to standard time and vice versa happens automatically." As a result, you will not need to take it off the wall when the clocks go forward in March or back in October.

Price, and who it suits

Mondaine sells it direct for £289. Its 2-year warranty only covers clocks bought from Mondaine or its authorised retailers, so buy from one of those.

It suits anyone who wants the railway clock face and never wants to reset a clock twice a year. Meanwhile, the limits are practical ones. The battery lasts about 12 months, so plan for a yearly change. It also needs a 2.4GHz network for the first setup, and at 25cm across it is slightly smaller than a dinner plate.
