Sarah Lucas is the London artist who turns tights, furniture, food and cigarettes into sculptures about sex, class and the body. Here you will find our take on her work, where it is on show now, and the signed Tate edition you can buy.

Our take on Sarah Lucas

Lucas works with ordinary things: furniture, food, tabloid newspapers, tights, toilets. The body is her main subject, according to her gallery, Sadie Coles HQ.

She exhibited in Freeze in 1988 as a Goldsmiths student, according to Tate, and represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2015. Of her recent Bunny works she said, “it’s about looking at the old things”, “wanting to bring them right back to a state of freshness”.

Her Pauline Bunny (1997) is in The 90s at Tate Britain now. Tate also sells Curious Orange, a signed edition from her 2023 show there.
