The Climeworks referral link takes 10% off a monthly Climeworks subscription, which pays to remove carbon dioxide from the air in your name. Climeworks is a Swiss company that runs direct air capture plants in Iceland. A standard plan removes 200kg of CO₂ a month and costs from £16, or £14.40 with the referral discount.
Climeworks builds machines that pull CO₂ out of the air with fans and filters. In Iceland, its partner Carbfix pumps the captured gas underground, where it turns into stone in basalt rock.
Its first large plant, Orca, opened near the Hellisheiði geothermal power station in September 2021, with a capacity of up to 4,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year. A larger plant, Mammoth, followed. Subscribers pay for a share of removal, either from these machines or from nature-based projects.
Technology removal is expensive. On the Technology focus plan, £80 a month removes 200kg of CO₂, which is 2.4 tonnes a year.
The plants have under-delivered. In May 2025 the Icelandic newspaper Heimildin analysed Climeworks' own data and reported that, as of 2023, its machines captured only a fraction of their stated capacity and did not yet cover the company's own emissions.
The cheaper plans are mostly nature-based. Nature focus puts 90% of your money into nature-based removal and only 10% into the direct air capture machines the company is known for.
Sign up through the Climeworks checkout, which takes payment in pounds. Wikipedia's Climeworks entry covers the company's plants, its Carbfix partnership and the Heimildin findings, with sources.
From £16 a month for 200kg of removal on the Nature focus plan, up to £80 a month for the Technology focus plan. The referral link takes 10% off.
The discount comes through the referral link. It applies 10% off in the basket, so there is no code to type in.
Its Nature focus and Nature and Technology plans include nature-based removal. The Technology focus plan pays only for direct air capture.
In Iceland, the captured CO₂ is injected underground by Carbfix, where it reacts with basalt and becomes rock.
Climeworks sells monthly, yearly and one-off plans, so you can choose a one-off payment if you do not want a subscription. For questions about an existing subscription, the checkout gives [email protected] as the contact.
