Lawrence Weiner was the American conceptual artist who made sculpture out of words painted on walls, floors and streets. Here you will find our take on his work, his recent shows and the edition you can buy in London.
Our take on Lawrence Weiner
Weiner turned language into his material. “Language is just another material to make visual art,” he said in 1994, as quoted by Marian Goodman Gallery.
His works are short statements, painted or installed on walls, floors and streets. Tate showed his work through ARTIST ROOMS from 2012 to 2015.
Five years after his death, galleries in Milan and Ghent have staged major shows. In London, the South London Gallery sells a printed canvas, All in due course.
