The Finimize app is a UK-born investing insights service, part newsletter and part community, that explains what is happening in markets in plain English. This page covers what the Finimize app is, the free tier versus paid Finimize Pro, what it costs, who runs it, and who it suits. Crucially, Finimize is information and education, not personal financial advice, and it is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. So treat it as a way to learn and stay informed, not as a place to invest or a substitute for regulated advice. One perk worth knowing: through our Finimize referral link, new members get a 30-day free trial of Finimize Pro, longer than the standard 7 days.

What is the Finimize app?

In short, the Finimize app turns dense financial news into short, readable takes. It sends a daily briefing, publishes bite-size analysis, and gathers a large community of everyday investors. The tagline sums it up neatly: "Outthink The Market". Rather than tell you what to buy, it aims to help you understand markets and make your own calls.

You can use much of it for free. The free tier includes the daily newsletter, news, market data and a big library of beginner guides. On top of that, Finimize runs live events, including its Modern Investor Summit, and says it has over one million members. So even before you pay a penny, there is plenty to read.

Who runs Finimize?

Finimize is operated by Finimize Limited (company number 10328011), based in London. Its history is worth a quick note, because it has changed hands. Aberdeen, formerly abrdn, bought Finimize in 2021, but that ownership has since ended. As of December 2025, Finimize is independent again. Its chief executive, Carl Hazeley, took majority control through a management buyout from the Aberdeen group. In other words, it is no longer part of Aberdeen, so do not think of it as a big-institution product any more.

Is Finimize regulated, and is it advice?

This part matters, so let us be clear. Finimize is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Its own terms state plainly that "Finimize is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not offer any regulated services". As a result, nothing on Finimize is a personal recommendation. There is also no FSCS cover, because Finimize never holds your money or your investments.

Instead, think of it as financial journalism and education. Finimize itself says its content "is not intended to be a personal recommendation to buy or sell any financial instrument". Naturally, the value of any investments you make can go down as well as up, so always do your own research and, if you are unsure, speak to a qualified financial adviser.

Finimize free vs Finimize Pro

Most people start on the free tier, and honestly it goes a long way. However, there is a paid upgrade called Finimize Pro for those who want deeper research. Pro is built around an in-house analyst desk, and it leans towards active investors who like a proper deep dive.

At the time of writing, Finimize Pro costs $200 a year. The public trial runs for 7 days, though our referral link stretches that to 30 days. The price is shown in your local currency at checkout. For that, you get four or more research reports a month. You also get 15 to 20 shorter insights, downloadable models and a monthly members-only event. Because pricing and tiers do change, always check the current cost on the Finimize site before you commit.

Key features at a glance

Here is what you actually get. First, a daily briefing that keeps you current in a couple of minutes. Second, short analysis and explainers that make big stories digestible. Third, a large community plus live events for those who like to learn together. Finally, with Pro, weekly analyst research for people who want to go deeper. Taken together, it is a tidy way to build your market knowledge over time.

Who is the Finimize app for?

In my view, Finimize suits curious beginners and improvers who want to understand investing without wading through jargon. If you like a quick, well-written briefing, you will get on with it. That said, it is not for everyone. If you want someone to manage your money for you, or you need regulated advice, this is not that, so look elsewhere.

One more thing to remember: Finimize gives you the ideas, but you still need somewhere to act on them. You still need a platform to invest through. Our guide to the cheapest investment apps in the UK lists the low-cost options. In practice, Finimize and a cheap ETF platform pair together rather well.
