The Little Book of House Plants and Other Greenery is Emma Sibley's guide to 60 popular indoor plants, with a photograph and a care breakdown for each one. Sibley founded London Terrariums, so the advice comes from someone who sells and looks after plants for a living. On 3 October 2026 Amazon UK had the 144-page Quadrille hardback at £10.77, down from an RRP of £12.99, and in stock.

The book is a directory. Each of the 60 plants gets its own page, with a photograph and the basics you need to keep it alive: how big it grows, how much light and water it wants, and whether it flowers. Many entries also carry a short extra tip for that plant.
The range runs from palms and large leafy tropical plants to ferns and flowering pot plants. So it covers the plants you are likely to find in a garden centre or a high street plant shop, rather than rare collector varieties.
Sibley founded London Terrariums, a London plant business, and acts as its terrarium and houseplant expert. The house plants book is the second she wrote for Quadrille. On the London Terrariums page for the book, she describes it as an introductory book for new houseplant owners.
Sixty plants is enough for most homes. However, if you already keep rarer plants, you will find the directory too short. The care notes are brief, too. They tell you the light and water a plant likes, but they do not go into pests or diseases in any depth. Also, the book came out in 2018, so it will not cover plants that have become fashionable since.
Amazon UK had the hardback at £10.77 on 3 October 2026, in stock. The Kindle edition was £6.99.
