Grey cover of Oasis with a black and white photo of Noel and Liam Gallagher, in a grey frame

Oasis by Jill Furmanovsky and Noel Gallagher

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Oasis: Trying to Find a Way Out of Nowhere is a photo book of the band by Jill Furmanovsky, who photographed them from the Definitely Maybe tour in 1994 up to the 2025 reunion. It holds more than 500 of her pictures, many published for the first time, with a foreword by Noel Gallagher. Thames & Hudson's RRP is £50, and I checked the prices and stock on Amazon and Bookshop.org on 13 October 2026, when Amazon had it at £22.73.

What is in the Oasis book

Furmanovsky started photographing Oasis in 1994, on the tour for their first album. She kept going through the difficult Dig Out Your Soul shows in 2009 and, after the long break, to the reunion in 2025. The book has 557 illustrations across 304 pages: the famous shots alongside a great deal of candid, behind-the-scenes material.

Noel Gallagher wrote the foreword and Furmanovsky the introduction. Three longer pieces then cover the band's early, middle and late years: by the author Simon Spence, the publicist and writer Johnny Hopkins and the music writer Laura Barton. Furmanovsky and Gallagher add their own notes to the photographs.

Jill Furmanovsky and the band

Of the band, Furmanovsky has said: "Oasis permitted closeness, and that was a great gift to me as a photographer." Gallagher's line on her is on the cover: "It's been an honour to have been associated with Jill for 30 years." The full description is on Thames & Hudson's page for the book.

Key facts

  • Photographer: Jill Furmanovsky, with a foreword by Noel Gallagher
  • Publisher: Thames & Hudson
  • Published: 23 September 2025
  • Format: hardback with printed covers and no jacket, 304 pages, 557 illustrations
  • Size: 32 x 24cm, a little bigger than a sheet of A4 each way
  • ISBN: 9780500030646
  • RRP: £50

The price gap

When I checked, the same hardback was £22.73 on Amazon and £47.50 on Bookshop.org, against an RRP of £50. That is a gap of almost £25 for an identical book. Bookshop.org passes money to independent bookshops, which some buyers will want to pay for. If you would rather keep the difference, Amazon is the cheaper route by a long way, though prices like that can change quickly.

Who it suits as a gift

It suits anyone who saw the band in the 1990s or at the 2025 reunion shows. It also works for a photography lover, since the pictures come from one photographer's long relationship with a band rather than a press archive. At 32cm tall, it is a book for a coffee table.

The limits

It is a photo book, so the writing is a foreword, three essays and captions, not a full band history. It is also large and heavy, which makes it awkward to read in bed or carry around. And the Bookshop.org price is more than double Amazon's on the day I checked, so shop around before you buy.

Where to buy it in the UK

Amazon UK had it at £22.73, in stock. Bookshop.org had it at £47.50, ready to despatch. For more presents for a music fan, see my page on How Music Works by David Byrne.
