What comes in the Letterbox Love subscription box

The contents change every month, but the charity lists the same five things in each box:

• A bar of ARTHOUSE Unlimited chocolate
• A greetings card designed by one of the artists
• A mystery gift
• A letter from an artist
• A collectable print of that artist's work

The box goes by Royal Mail and fits through a standard letterbox. The box in the product photos is only an example, so expect different contents each month.

How billing and delivery work

• Joining between the 1st and the 15th: you pay straight away and the first box ships at once.
• Joining after the 15th: your first payment is taken on the 1st of the next month, and the box ships then.
• Every box after that: charged and sent around the 1st of each month. If the 1st falls at a weekend, it goes out the following Monday.
• Other items in the same order: they ship separately, and you pay the £4.95 standard delivery on top of the £2.95 box postage.
• Where it ships: the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. ARTHOUSE does not currently ship to Europe or further afield.

Who runs ARTHOUSE Unlimited

ARTHOUSE Unlimited is a registered charity, number 1177900, based in Godalming. Its artists work with instructors, and their art is turned into products the charity sells, from chocolate wrappers to tea towels. The charity says all of its sales go towards keeping it running. A team of staff, volunteers and artists packs each order.

Who the subscription suits

• Someone who enjoys getting post: a box arrives every month, with a letter from the artist whose print is inside.
• People who want a present to keep supporting a charity: the money goes to ARTHOUSE every month for at least three months.
• Anyone collecting prints: each box adds a new artist's print, which builds into a small collection over a year.

The minimum term and other limits

The three-month minimum term is the main catch. You cannot cancel until three boxes have gone out, so you are committing to at least £44.85, not £14.95. After that, ARTHOUSE says you can cancel, and its FAQs give [email protected] for any problems.

You cannot choose or change what goes in a box, and boxes cannot be returned. On top of that, a mystery gift will not suit someone with firm tastes, or anyone who avoids chocolate.

Where to buy it

The Letterbox Love subscription is only sold through the ARTHOUSE Unlimited shop. It is set up as a recurring monthly order at checkout, so check the delivery address if you are sending it to someone else.
