What is the Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+?

Blink is Amazon's budget home security brand, sitting below Ring on price. The Battery Doorbell 2K+ arrived in May 2026 as the successor to the 2nd generation Blink Video Doorbell. It lets you see, hear and speak to whoever is at your door from your phone or an Echo Show.

The headline change is the camera. It now records at 2K, which Blink lists as 1920 x 1920 pixels, so faces and parcels come out sharper. Otherwise, it keeps what made the older model easy to live with: AA batteries, a wireless install and a low-cost subscription.

Key features

2K head-to-toe video: The square 140 x 140 degree view shows a visitor from head to feet, plus the doorstep in front of them. As a result, you can see whether a parcel has actually been left on the mat.

Battery or wired power: It runs on three AA lithium batteries, which come in the box. Blink quotes roughly 16 to 22 months of typical use, depending on the video quality setting. Alternatively, you can wire it to an existing doorbell circuit so it rings your indoor chime.

Weatherproof: It carries an IP65 rating and works from -20°C to 45°C, so a British winter is no problem.

Alexa integration: Paired with an Echo Show, you get a video preview when someone presses the bell and two-way talk through the screen. Every Echo in the house can also announce the doorbell.

Smart alerts: Activity zones cut out alerts from the pavement. On top of that, a subscription adds person detection, so a passing cat does not ping your phone.

Local or cloud storage: A Sync Module is required. With a USB stick in a Sync Module 2, or a microSD card in a Sync Module XR, you can save clips locally without a subscription.

Blink subscription plans

Live view and motion alerts work without a subscription. However, saving and replaying clips in the cloud needs a plan. According to Blink's UK plans page, the prices on 2 October 2026 were:

• Basic: £2.50 a month or £24.99 a year, for one device.
• Plus: £8 a month or £80 a year, for unlimited devices.
• Basic ai and Plus ai: £5.49 and £14.99 a month, adding features such as Known Faces and grouped alerts.

What's in the box

The system bundle includes the doorbell, three AA lithium batteries, a Sync Module Core with its cable and plug, and a mounting kit. If you already own a Sync Module, the add-on doorbell on its own is the cheaper option.

Privacy and UK law

If the camera records beyond your property, such as the pavement or a neighbour's garden, UK data protection rules apply to you. So, use Privacy Zones in the Blink app to block out areas you should not record. The ICO's domestic CCTV guidance explains your responsibilities in full.

Who is the Blink Battery Doorbell for?

It suits renters who cannot wire anything in, Alexa households and anyone who wants a cheap way to keep an eye on deliveries. It also makes a useful gift for someone moving house, which is why it appears in my new home gift guide and my technology lovers gift guide.
