What the Murdle board game is

Murdle started in 2022 as a free daily puzzle online. Each one is a short murder mystery that you solve with a logic grid. G. T. Karber then turned it into a book series, and the first book won Non-Fiction: Lifestyle and Illustrated Book of the Year at the British Book Awards 2024.

Goliath Games made the board game, subtitled The Case of the Cover-Up! on the box. It keeps the logic grid from the books but splits the clues between the players. So instead of solving alone, you race the others to the answer.

How the Murdle board game plays

  • The hidden answer: every game hides one suspect, one weapon and one location.
  • Your evidence: each player sits behind a privacy screen with an evidence folder that the others cannot see.
  • The grid: you mark tick and cross tokens on the logic board to rule options in or out.
  • Trading clues: you share evidence with other players, which helps them as much as it helps you.
  • The accusation: when you think you know the answer, you place an accusation token and check it.

Key facts

  • Price: £19.99 recommended, £16.27 on Amazon UK
  • Players: 2 to 4, according to the box
  • Age: 12 and up, according to the box
  • Publisher: Goliath Games

Who the Murdle board game suits

  • Murdle book and puzzle fans: the same style of logic grid, but with other people at the table.
  • Families with teenagers: the box says 12 and up, and nobody needs to know the books first.
  • Present buyers: at under £20 it fits a stocking or a Secret Santa budget.

The limits

The note pad is the one part you use up. Each player fills in a sheet per game, so 100 sheets last 25 games for four players. After that you need paper of your own.

It needs at least two players, so unlike the books it will not work as a puzzle to solve on your own.

It is a light deduction game rather than a long strategy game, so it suits a short session more than a whole evening.

On 12 October 2026 the Amazon UK listing was sold by a marketplace seller, Booghe Toys, rather than by Amazon itself. Check the seller and delivery date before you order.

Where to buy it in the UK

Amazon UK had it at £16.27, against the £19.99 recommended price. The free daily puzzle is still on murdle.com if you want to try the logic grid before you buy.
