Audible UK: Plans and Prices

Audible UK is Amazon's audiobook service, with 900,000 titles to choose from. There are two monthly plans: Standard at £5.99 a month, where you pick one audiobook a month to listen to while you are a member, and Premium at £8.99 a month, where you get a credit for a book you keep for good. Both start with a 30-day free trial. Until 28 December 2026, the Standard sign-up page offers the first three months at £0.99 a month instead. Prices were checked on audible.co.uk on 5 October 2026.

Audible UK plans and prices
- Standard, £5.99 a month: select one audiobook a month from the whole catalogue, plus unlimited podcasts.
- Premium, £8.99 a month: one credit a month for any audiobook, which you keep, plus the all-you-can-listen catalogue and member-only sales.
- 12 credits a year, £69.99: the Premium benefits paid annually, which works out at about £5.83 a credit.
- 24 credits a year, £109.99: the same, at about £4.58 a credit.
Every plan can be switched or cancelled monthly. The free trial and the £0.99 offer both renew automatically at the full monthly price, so set a reminder if you only want the trial.
The Standard plan
On Standard you choose one audiobook each month. You can listen to every title you have selected for as long as you stay a member. If you cancel, those titles lock in your library, and they unlock again if you rejoin.
A selection you do not use in a month is gone. It does not roll over, so a busy month means you lose that book.
The £0.99 offer applies to Standard. Three months at £0.99 is £2.97, then £5.99 a month after that.
The Premium plan
Premium gives you one credit a month. A credit buys any audiobook, whatever its length or price, and the book is yours to keep even after you cancel.
Unused credits roll over up to a maximum of six. Premium members also get the all-you-can-listen catalogue, a selection of audiobooks, Audible Originals and podcasts to stream at no extra cost. Titles from that catalogue lock if you leave, the same as Standard selections.
New releases often have a list price well above £8.99. The ten picks in our best audiobooks roundup for September 2026 had list prices from £13.61 to £19.83, so one credit costs less than buying any of them outright.
Standard or Premium
- Standard: for when you listen to a book a month and do not mind losing access if you leave. It is £3 a month cheaper.
- Premium: for when you want to keep what you listen to, or you like returning to the same books.
- An annual plan: for when you already know you will listen all year. The 24-credit plan brings each book down to about £4.58.
The Audible app
The app runs on iPhone and Android, and Audible books also play on Kindle e-readers and Alexa speakers. You can download books to listen offline, change the speed, set a sleep timer and add bookmarks. Car mode gives you bigger buttons for use while driving.

Alternatives to Audible
Bookshop.org audiobooks sell audiobooks without a subscription, and each sale supports independent bookshops. You pay per book, so it suits people who listen to a handful of books a year.
Spotify Premium includes a monthly allowance of audiobook listening hours on its Individual and Duo plans, and for the plan manager on Family. Spotify's audiobooks help page explains how the hours count down, and unused hours do not carry over.
The limits
Both monthly plans and both trials renew automatically. If you sign up for the £0.99 offer and forget about it, you pay £5.99 a month from the fourth month.
Standard selections and catalogue titles lock if you cancel, so only books bought with Premium credits or cash stay in your library.
Premium credits expire if you leave with unused ones, and the rollover stops at six. Spend them before you cancel.

How much does Audible cost in the UK?
On 5 October 2026, Standard was £5.99 a month and Premium £8.99 a month. Annual Premium plans were £69.99 for 12 credits and £109.99 for 24. Until 28 December 2026, Standard is £0.99 a month for the first three months.
Is there an Audible free trial?
Yes. Both Standard and Premium start with 30 days free, then renew at the monthly price unless you cancel.
Do I keep my audiobooks if I cancel Audible?
You keep anything bought with a Premium credit or with cash. Standard selections and all-you-can-listen titles lock until you rejoin.
Do Audible credits roll over?
Premium credits roll over up to six. A Standard selection does not roll over, so use it in the month.
Can I cancel Audible at any time?
Yes. Audible lets you switch plans or cancel monthly.
