The Netatmo Smart Thermostat is a translucent acrylic cube designed by Philippe Starck that lets you run your boiler from your phone. It works with most UK gas boilers and heat pumps, runs on three AAA batteries for up to two years, and needs no subscription. On 4 October 2026 it cost £142.63 on Amazon UK, sold by Amazon, and £115.54 on Netatmo's own UK shop in a sale.

There are two parts in the box. The thermostat itself sits on a wall or a shelf, measures the room temperature and shows it on an e-paper screen. A relay wires into your boiler where the old thermostat connected, and plugs into the mains.
The two talk to each other over long-range radio. The relay then connects to your home Wi-Fi, which is how the Home + Control app reaches it from anywhere.
You set a weekly schedule by answering five questions in the app. After that, the Auto-Adapt feature uses the weather forecast and how quickly your home loses heat to decide when to fire the boiler, so rooms reach the right temperature at the time you asked for.
Starck designed it as a clear acrylic cube with a white face, so it looks like an object on the wall rather than a control panel. The box includes four coloured stickers, in red, orange, green and blue, which tint the edges of the cube.
The e-paper screen draws very little power, so three AAA batteries last up to two years, according to Netatmo. To change the temperature by hand, you press the top of the cube.
The thermostat works with Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa, so you can ask a speaker to turn the heating up. The Home + Control app is free for life, with no subscription, and shows a heating history and a monthly energy report.
Netatmo says it will support the thermostat's software until 31 December 2030. That date matters more than it used to, because Google switched off app control for its older Nest thermostats in 2025.
Comparing it with the alternatives? Our best smart heating controls UK guide puts it against smart radiator valves and the cheaper options, with prices and payback.
It switches the boiler on and off rather than turning the flame up and down. If your boiler supports OpenTherm, Netatmo sells a separate Smart Modulating Thermostat that does that, at £199.99.
It controls the whole house as one zone. For room-by-room control you need to add Netatmo's Additional Smart Radiator Valves, at £79.99 each. Netatmo's older Radiator Valve ORIGINAL is not compatible.
Wiring the relay into a boiler is a DIY job only if you are comfortable with mains electrics. If not, an installer will charge for the visit. Check your boiler at check.netatmo.com before you buy.
Amazon UK had it at £142.63, sold and dispatched by Amazon. The Netatmo Smart Thermostat product page had it at £115.54 in a sale, with free delivery from £169 and 60-day returns, and lists the full specification.

It covers the same ground: schedules, remote control and heating that adapts to the weather. Netatmo has also published a software support date of 31 December 2030.
Netatmo designed it for DIY installation, but the relay connects to your boiler's mains wiring. If you are not confident with that, use an installer.
