Sonos Era 300 wireless smart speaker in black

Sonos Era 300

Last updated: 5 October 2026

The Sonos Era 300 is Sonos's spatial audio speaker. Six drivers fire sound forwards, sideways and up at the ceiling. So Dolby Atmos music comes from above as well as in front. It streams over WiFi 6, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2. A pair can also act as Atmos rear speakers for a Sonos soundbar. Sonos sells it for £499 in black or white. On 5 October 2026, Amazon UK had black at £499 and white at £479.

What the Sonos Era 300 does

Sonos launched the Era 300 in March 2023. It was the brand's first speaker built for spatial audio, the format behind Dolby Atmos music. The pinched hourglass shape holds the drivers at different angles. As a result, one speaker throws sound round a room rather than straight ahead.

It works on its own, as a stereo pair, or as surround speakers. Paired with a Sonos Arc Ultra, Arc or Beam (Gen 2), two become Atmos rear speakers.

How the six drivers are arranged

There are four tweeters and two woofers, each with its own class-D amplifier. A forward-firing tweeter handles the centre of the sound and two side tweeters spread the stereo image. The fourth fires upwards through a horn and bounces sound off the ceiling. That is where the overhead effect comes from.

The two woofers are angled left and right for bass and stereo width. After that, Sonos's Trueplay tuning adjusts the sound to the shape of your room.

Who it suits

  • Apple Music, Amazon Music and Tidal subscribers: those services stream Dolby Atmos tracks, which is the format the Era 300 is built around.
  • Sonos home cinema owners: a pair adds rear speakers with an upward driver each.
  • Anyone with a turntable: the USB-C line-in takes a record player, once you buy the adapter.

The limits

Spotify does not stream in Dolby Atmos. So Spotify users lose the overhead effect. For plain stereo, the cheaper Era 100 does the job.

Google Assistant is not supported. Voice control is Sonos Voice Control or Amazon Alexa only.

The line-in needs an adapter. USB-C will not take an aux cable on its own, so budget for Sonos's adapter.

The price has gone up. Sonos launched it at £449 in 2023 and now charges £499.
