What the Trench Run watch is

Citizen made the Trench Run as part of its Star Wars range. In Citizen's words it is "inspired by an original Citizen analog-digital watch from the 1980s", which explains the chunky rectangular case and the small LCD windows.

The dial is the fun part. Citizen describes dual time in both X-Wing and TIE fighter pilot views.

• Analogue and digital time: hands plus LCD windows.
• Dual time: a second time zone.
• Alarm and chronograph: a 1/1000 second chronograph that measures up to 12 hours.
• Temperature: a display in Celsius.
• Perpetual calendar: the date takes care of itself.

The limits

It is sold out, and I could not find a UK stockist. Buying one now means the second-hand market, so check the battery, the bracelet and the LCD before you pay.

It is only splash resistant, so take it off before swimming or showering. The 33mm case is also narrow for a men's watch, although the rectangular shape wears bigger.
