What the LEGO TIE Interceptor is

LEGO released set 75382 on 1 May 2024, ahead of Star Wars Day. It is a display model rather than a toy, so it sits in the Ultimate Collector Series alongside LEGO's larger Star Wars ships.

The designer, Henrik Andersen, also designed an earlier UCS version of the ship. He told StarWars.com: "Compared to the last time I designed the UCS TIE Interceptor, I was now able to create a close-to-perfect replica of the movie prop."

What it does

  • Movie detail: LEGO lists the distinctive wings, laser cannons and a detailed cockpit with an opening hatch.
  • Display stand: the ship mounts on a brick-built stand with an information plaque.
  • Anniversary brick: the set includes a commemorative 25th anniversary brick.
  • Figures: a TIE Pilot minifigure with special arm decoration and a Mouse Droid.
  • Instructions: printed step-by-step booklets, plus 3D instructions in the LEGO Builder app.

  • Gift buyers: it comes in under £200 and arrives as a complete display piece.

The limits

It needs room. At 40cm by 33cm on its stand, it takes up most of a standard shelf.

There are only two figures. You get the TIE Pilot and a Mouse Droid, so it will not satisfy anyone after a minifigure collection.

It is a model for display. The 18+ rating reflects that, and the thin wings are not built for play.

Finally, LEGO retires sets after a while. Its predecessor, the UCS Landspeeder, has already gone, so this one will not stay on sale forever.

Where to buy the LEGO TIE Interceptor in the UK
