Studio Arhoj Ghost Light, a white porcelain ghost glowing orange from a tea light inside

Studio Arhoj Ghost Light

Last updated: 25 October 2026

The Studio Arhoj Ghost Light is a small porcelain ghost that glows when you put a tea light inside it. Each one is hand cast and glazed in translucent porcelain at the Danish studio, so the light shines through the body. On 25 October 2026 Studio Arhoj's shop had it at £30, in stock and priced in pounds for UK buyers.

What the Studio Arhoj Ghost Light is

Studio Arhoj is a Danish design and ceramics studio founded by Anders Arhoj, a graphic designer who turned to clay. He lived in Tokyo from 2005, and the studio's story credits Japanese ceramic traditions as the spark for his work.

The Ghost Light is a candle holder in the shape of the studio's ghost character. You put a tea light inside, and the thin porcelain glows. It comes in its own printed cardboard box.

What it does

  • Holds a tea light: both standard tea lights and the larger 8-hour tea lights fit inside.
  • Glows through the porcelain: the porcelain is translucent and glazed, so the candlelight shows through the body.
  • Works with an LED candle: Studio Arhoj says to use an LED tea light in a child's room, because a real flame makes it very hot.

Key facts

  • Price: £30 at Studio Arhoj's shop
  • Size: 16 x 7cm
  • Material: hand cast porcelain with a transparent glaze
  • Takes: standard or 8-hour tea lights, or an LED tea light
  • Packaging: its own printed cardboard box
  • Care: wipe with a dry cloth once cool, and use baking soda and washing-up liquid on a sponge for smoke marks

Who the Studio Arhoj Ghost Light suits

  • Fans of Japanese-influenced Scandinavian ceramics: ghosts recur across Studio Arhoj's ranges, from pins to limited figures.
  • Anyone after a Halloween decoration that lasts: it suits a windowsill in October and a shelf the rest of the year.
  • Gift buyers: at £30 and boxed, it works as a housewarming or birthday present.

The limits

It is a candle holder, not a lamp. There is no built-in light or battery, so you need tea lights, and a real flame makes the porcelain hot.

For a child's room, Studio Arhoj says to use an LED candle instead. Porcelain is also breakable, so keep it out of reach of small children.

Because each ghost is hand cast and glazed, no two are quite the same. So yours may differ a little from the photos.

Finally, the shop does not show a delivery price on the product page, so check delivery costs and times at checkout.

Where to buy the Ghost Light in the UK

Studio Arhoj sells the Ghost Light from its own shop, with prices shown in pounds. I struggled to find it on Amazon UK. The Studio Arhoj Ghost Light page has the size, care advice and more photos.
