These Wren Press correspondence cards are a box of ten cards, each engraved by hand with a small bronze wren. They come with matching envelopes lined in bronze tissue.
The Wren Press is a family stationer in Mayfair that holds Royal Warrants from the King and the Queen. The box costs £28. I checked the price and stock on wrenpress.co.uk on 11 October 2026.
| Cards | 10 correspondence cards |
|---|---|
| Size | 6 x 4.25 inches (15.2 x 10.8cm) |
| Board | Wren Polar Smooth Crisp White, 400gsm |
| Engraving | A wren, hand engraved in bronze |
| Envelopes | Matching, hand lined with bronze tissue |
| Box | A gift box carrying The Wren Press logo and Royal Warrant |
At 15 x 11cm, each card is a little bigger than a postcard. So there is room for a short thank-you note rather than a full letter. The board is also a heavy 400gsm.
Engraving is not the same as flat printing. The Wren Press etches the artwork onto a copper die and then finishes it by hand. As a result, the wren stands slightly raised, and you can feel it with a fingertip.
In the Wren Press account of its warrant, the company describes itself as "the only luxury stationer with its own in-house master engraver". Its engraver was the last full five-year apprentice in the trade, indentured to Stationers' Hall.
The Wren Press started in 1985 as a family business and has a shop at 1 Curzon Street in Mayfair. It holds the King's Royal Warrant, and it was recently granted the Queen's Warrant too.
They suit someone who still sends handwritten thank-you notes, or someone you would like to start. Because the cards carry only a wren and no message, they work for thanks, sympathy or a note in a present.
However, they are not Christmas cards. For festive cards, The Wren Press sells separate seasonal designs.
Ten cards at £28 is £2.80 a card before postage, which is a lot for a thank-you note.
Finally, The Wren Press does not list its delivery charge or a returns window on its policy pages. Check the delivery cost at checkout, or collect the order free from the Curzon Street shop.
