Giffgaff Referral Code UK – Get £5 to £10 Free Credit

giffgaff does not hand out codes. The giffgaff referral code everyone searches for is really a link, and ordering a free SIM through ours pays you £5 bonus credit once you activate it. In a double-reward month that same link pays £10, which is where the wider range in the title comes from.
The bigger news right now sits in the plans. Unlimited data on an 18 month contract has dropped to £14 a month from £25, and giffgaff's own help pages put a hard stop on that price at 11.59pm on 2 October 2026. Every price, allowance and date below was read off giffgaff.com and giffgaff's help centre on 5 September 2026.
What the giffgaff referral code actually gets you
Order the SIM through the link above, activate it, and £5 lands on your account as bonus credit. The SIM itself costs nothing and arrives by post, or you can take an eSIM and skip the wait entirely. Spend the credit on a plan or leave it sitting there as pay as you go balance.
giffgaff calls the scheme Member Get Member, and it doubles from time to time. Its own promotion terms show the last double running from 1 to 31 August 2026, when joiners got £10 instead of £5. No double is live in September, so £5 is what our link pays today.

Every contract plan carries the same three lines on giffgaff's own page: "Price lock - no mid-contract price rises", "Change your plan anytime" and "No credit checks". Leaving early is the catch. giffgaff's help centre puts the early termination charge at half your current plan cost multiplied by the months you have left.

Two plans sit on £20 at the moment, 100 GB and Unlimited, so the capped one makes no sense while the offer runs. That offer behaves differently here as well. giffgaff locks the discounted rolling price for 12 months rather than the 18 you get on a contract.

The two £6 plans are the ones people mix up. Monthly rolling gives you 2 GB for that money and pay as you go gives you 1 GB.
The 40 GB and 80 GB plans are not what the label says
Those two headline numbers are a promotion sitting on top of a much smaller allowance, and giffgaff's promotion terms spell out what happens when it ends.
The Data Boost expiry. The £8 plan is a 6 GB plan with a 34 GB boost. The £10 plan is a 25 GB plan with a 55 GB boost. giffgaff's terms say you "will receive an increased data allowance for 18 months from when the Plan first goes live on their account", and then: "Members who continue on their selected plan following the end of this 18 month period will receive the standard data allowance for that plan."
So the boost runs exactly as long as the contract does. Stay on the £8 plan into month 19 without changing anything and you are on 6 GB, still paying £8.
The promotion windows close before the contracts do. giffgaff dates the £8 boost from 24 August to 4 December 2026 and the £10 boost from 24 August to 30 October 2026. Existing members have to opt in through the giffgaff app first, and anyone already on a previous promotion on the same plan is excluded.
Roaming, coverage and the things that are actually included
- Network. giffgaff runs on O2, with 4G and 5G on every plan and no premium tier to unlock 5G.
- EU roaming. "Call and text just like at home in 37 EU Zone destinations. All at no extra cost", with up to 5 GB of your allowance usable while you are there. Past 5 GB you pay for data.
- Calls and texts. Unlimited UK calls and texts on every plan, contract or not.
- Keeping your number. Text PAC to 65075 from your old SIM and the code arrives inside about 60 seconds.
- No rollover. Unused data does not carry over. giffgaff's help centre also warns that buying a plan early "erases your current plan and you will lose all remaining allowances".
On the independent numbers, giffgaff scored 94% overall satisfaction for mobile in Ofcom's most recent Comparing customer service report, against an 88% industry average, and it took Best Mobile Handset Contract Network at the Uswitch Mobiles Awards 2026.
What you can earn back once you are a member
Payback is giffgaff's own reward scheme, and it runs the other way round from the joining credit. You get £5 Payback every time you bring a mate on board, plus points for answering questions in the community forum.
It pays in points rather than instant credit, which is the part people miss. One point is worth 1p. Twice a year, in June and December, you convert them to cash through PayPal, to giffgaff credit, or to a charity donation that giffgaff matches pound for pound. Cash needs a minimum of 1,000 points, and points are forfeited if the phone has gone unused for three months.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a giffgaff referral code I can type in?
No. giffgaff has never used typed codes, which is why searching for a giffgaff referral code turns up links instead. You order the SIM through a member's link and the bonus is attached to that order.
How much credit do I get, £5 or £10?
£5 as things stand in September 2026. giffgaff doubles it to £10 during its Member Get Member promotions, the most recent of which ran through August 2026.
When does the £14 unlimited price end?
giffgaff's help centre gives a firm answer: "You can get this deal until 11.59pm on 2 October 2026. After that, the unlimited plans go back to their standard prices." Join before then and the £14 is locked for 18 months on a contract, or 12 months on monthly rolling.
Does giffgaff run a credit check?
Not for a SIM or a plan. giffgaff's help pages say that "in most cases, we won't be doing any credit checks", and the exception is buying a phone on a Klarna loan.
Can I change plan during an 18 month contract?
Yes. You can move your plan up or down without restarting the term. Leaving giffgaff altogether before the 18 months are up is what triggers the early termination charge.
What happens to the extra free data at the end of the contract?
It stops. The 34 GB and 55 GB boosts last 18 months from activation, after which the plan reverts to its standard 6 GB or 25 GB unless you change plan.
Is giffgaff good for travelling in Europe?
