Investa referral code: 20 Reward Options when you deposit £250

Last updated: 14 October 2026

In short: the Investa referral code is a sign-up link, not a code you type. Open an account through my Investa referral link and deposit at least £250 within seven days. You then get 20 Reward Options over Investa's own unlisted shares. The current referral window runs from 6 to 31 October 2026.

The options have no cash value today and only pay out if Investa lists or is sold.

Capital at risk. The Reward Options have no value today, cannot be sold, are not covered by the FSCS and may expire worthless.

Risk warning. Capital at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Options are complex products and not suitable for all investors. You could lose all of your investment.

High-risk investment warning. Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect to be protected if something goes wrong. Take 2 mins to learn more. This warning applies to the Reward Options, which are a right over Investa's own unlisted shares.

How the Investa referral code works

First, there is no box in the app for typing an Investa referral code. The referral only counts if you start from a referrer's link. So tap the link before you download the app.

Next, you need to be a UK resident aged 18 or over. You also must not have held an Investa account in the previous 12 months. On top of that, you have to pass Investa's identity, anti-money-laundering, sanctions and fraud checks, which are run with its broker partner.

Then, within seven calendar days of opening the account, you fund it with a cash deposit of at least £250. The £250 figure comes from Investa's in-app referral offer, so use the Investa referral code link and fund it in good time. Notably, you do not have to place a single trade. The terms also let you withdraw once the threshold is met, subject to Investa's fraud and withdrawal checks.

Finally, Investa sends a Grant Notice to you and to the person who referred you. You then have 14 calendar days to accept it in the app. If you miss that window, the grant lapses and you get nothing, so accept it as soon as the notice arrives.

What you agree to when you accept

Accepting the grant forms a contract with Investa Markets Ltd under its Customer Options Scheme. In return for the options, you undertake to keep your account in good standing for 12 months from the date of grant. In other words, the options cost you no cash, yet they are not quite unconditional either.

You also confirm that the options may expire worthless and cannot be cashed in early. You accept, too, that a sale or listing of Investa may never happen. All of this sits in Investa's Reward Options terms and conditions, alongside the Referral Programme Terms.

Meanwhile, the pool is limited. Investa caps the whole referral programme at 15,000 options, and once they are gone no more referral grants are made. Each referrer can also earn options on a maximum of three successful referrals.

What are Investa Reward Options?

A Reward Option is a private, non-transferable right to one ordinary share in Investa Markets Ltd, the company behind the app. It is not cash, and it is not a share you can hold in your portfolio today. Investa's Share Options Key Features Document sets out the mechanics.

The strike price is the nominal value of an Investa share, £0.00025. As a result, the option tracks almost the whole value of a share above that tiny floor. Investa also settles the strike on your behalf, so you never pay it from your own pocket.

However, the options only vest on a Liquidity Event, which Investa defines as an initial public offering or an acquisition of the company. On an IPO you receive one ordinary share per option. On an acquisition you receive cash equal to the sale price per share minus the strike. Until one of those happens, the options simply sit in your account.

What the Investa referral code options are worth today

Investa's app currently values its shares at £5.09 each, based on its latest £10 million company valuation. On that basis, the 20 shares behind your 20 options come to £101.80. That is Investa's own figure, and it describes the shares, not something you can collect.

In practice, the options themselves have no cash value today. Investa's terms say so. There is no public market for its shares, and the options cannot be sold, transferred or used as collateral. Consequently, the £101.80 is a snapshot of a private valuation, not money in your account.

Equally, the figure could move either way before any sale or listing. Investa also has other share classes that may rank ahead on a sale. So a payout could be well below the headline valuation. If you are new to this kind of trade-off, my beginner's guide to what investment risk really means is a good primer.

The risks behind the Investa referral code

First, timing. The options run until 1 January 2050, and a listing or sale of Investa might never happen. Therefore you could hold them for more than 20 years and still receive nothing.

Second, company risk. If Investa's value at a Liquidity Event is below the nominal strike, the options lapse with no value. Similarly, if Investa stops trading, the potential value disappears.

Third, protection. The options are not deposits and are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, and the regulatory protections around them are limited. Tax may also be payable if they ever pay out, and that bill would be yours. Tax treatment depends on the individual circumstances of each client and may be subject to change in future.

On the plus side, you pay no cash for the options, so the reward itself cannot cost you money you put in. The £250 you deposit is a different matter: once you trade with it, normal market risk applies.

Investa fees in 2026

Investa charges no trading commission on US shares, ETFs or listed options. Likewise, the general investment account, deposits, withdrawals and custody all cost nothing, according to its pricing page.

The real cost is currency conversion, because everything trades in US dollars. Share trades carry 0% FX up to an annual limit of £250,000 of trade value, 5,000 shares or 50 trades, whichever comes first. Options trades carry a 0.99% FX fee on every conversion.

On top of that, options trades carry small third-party regulatory charges. These are usually fractions of a dollar per contract. For context on that 0.99%, my comparison of the cheapest investment apps by FX fee sets it against the main UK apps.

Is Investa safe and FCA regulated?

Investa is the trading name of Investa Markets Ltd, company number 14238584, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under FRN 1037289. You can check it on the FCA Financial Services Register.

Importantly, Investa does not hold your cash or your investments. Under its terms of service, the app passes your orders to Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited, known as IBKR. IBKR executes them and holds your account. IBKR is separately authorised by the FCA under FRN 208159. In effect, you become an IBKR client with an Investa front end, which my Interactive Brokers referral page covers from the other side.

Eligible investments are protected up to £85,000 per person per FCA-authorised firm by the FSCS, as the FSCS investment protection page explains.

The FSCS does not cover investment losses. If the shares or options you buy fall in value, that loss is yours. The cover only applies if an authorised firm fails and cannot return the investments it holds for you. With Investa, that firm is IBKR, which holds your cash and assets. The cover does not extend to the Reward Options either.

Who Investa suits, and who it does not

Investa suits confident, hands-on investors who already understand options and want a clean, commission-free app for US shares and derivatives. It was founded by former options brokers and is clearly aimed at the active end of the market.

On the other hand, it is iOS only for now, with Android on a waitlist. Options can lose their full value quickly, so cautious savers and beginners may prefer a broader, simpler app. Before you trade options, the OCC's Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options sets out how options can lose money. If you mainly want shares and ETFs, my Trading 212 referral code page covers a broader app with its own sign-up offer.

Investa referral code: frequently asked questions

What is the Investa referral code?

On Investa, the referral code works as a sign-up link rather than a code you type in. Open your account through my Investa referral link, deposit at least £250 in cash within seven days, and you qualify for a grant of 20 Reward Options.

How much do I need to deposit?

At least £250, as a cash deposit, within seven calendar days of opening the account. You do not need to trade, and the terms let you withdraw after the threshold is met, subject to Investa's fraud and withdrawal checks.

Are the 20 Investa options really worth £101.80?

Not in cash. £101.80 is the value of 20 Investa shares at the £5.09 price Investa quotes from its latest £10m valuation. The options cannot be sold, have no market value today and only pay out on an IPO or acquisition, which may never happen.

When does the Investa referral offer end?

The current referral programme runs from 6 to 31 October 2026. It can also end early, because Investa stops granting referral options once its 15,000-option pool is used up.

Do I have to do anything after I deposit?

Yes. You must accept the Grant Notice in the Investa app within 14 days, or the offer lapses. By accepting, you also agree to keep your account in good standing for 12 months.

Are Investa Reward Options covered by the FSCS?

No. Investa's terms state that the options are not deposits and are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. FSCS cover of up to £85,000 per person only applies if an authorised firm holding your investments fails. It never covers a fall in the value of your investments, and it does not cover the options.

How does Investa compare to Freetrade or Trading 212?

Investa is narrower. It focuses on US shares, ETFs and listed options. Freetrade and Trading 212, by contrast, cover a wider range and offer ISAs. Their sign-up rewards are a free share rather than options over the provider's own company.
