Salma Price-Nell is the Lincolnshire artist who draws trees, leaves and mushrooms in fine ink with a dip pen. Here you will find our take on her work and the originals you can buy direct from her studio, from £500.

Our take on Salma Price-Nell

Price-Nell draws with dip pens and archival ink, building trees out of thousands of small marks. “Trees have been my greatest teachers. In them I found everything I was searching for,” she writes on her own site.

She told Colossal in 2023 that “trees seem to have developed some of the most harmonious and admirable traits during the course of their evolution.” Ink suits that patience, because it cannot be rubbed out. In her words: “Every line a commitment.”

She sells direct rather than through a gallery. Her newest series, Signs of Life (2026), starts at £500, and limited prints appear a few times a year for one week only.
