Teagan White is the US artist who calls themself an outsider naturalist, painting birds, plants and ecological loss in gouache and watercolour. Here you will find our take on their work and where to buy it, including the Folio Society’s Silent Spring.

Our take on Teagan White

White describes themself as “an artist and outsider naturalist”, painting the drought, wildfire and habitat loss of the Pacific Northwest, according to their own site. Their gallery work is gouache and watercolour on paper; pencil and ink are mostly for commercial jobs.

“For much of my work, slow labor and difficult rendering are the point; I am not interested in efficiency,” they write in their FAQ, where they also say they will not use generative AI.

The easiest way to own their work in the UK is the Folio Society edition of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, which they illustrated. Signed prints ship from the US.
