The Flower Care plant sensor is a small white stick that you push into a plant pot. It measures soil moisture, fertiliser level, light and temperature, then sends the readings to the Flower Care app on your phone over Bluetooth. Xiaomi used to sell it as the Mi Flora, and its maker HHCC still sells it as the Flora Monitor. On AliExpress it costs about £21 with free delivery to the UK.
HHCC makes the sensor, although Xiaomi sold it for years under its Mi brand. The current version works with the Flower Care app and with Xiaomi's Mijia app, so the name on the box can vary.
First, you push the probe into the soil next to the plant and pair it with your phone. Then the app compares the readings with what that plant needs and tells you whether to water, feed or move it.
For a sensor that sends readings over Wi-Fi instead, see our FYTA Beam review.
It works over Bluetooth only, so you need to be near the plant with your phone to get new readings. Smartzone's test found it sends no notifications, so you have to open the app to check.
The same test found the coin cell flat on arrival, so have a spare CR2032 ready. Also, each sensor covers one pot, so a windowsill of five plants needs five sensors.
AliExpress sellers ship from overseas, so delivery is slower than from a UK shop. On 23 October this listing quoted four to seven days.
The single white sensor from the Timethinker store on AliExpress costs £20.79 with free delivery. Smartzone's hands-on test covers the app and readings in detail.
Flower Care sensor on AliExpress
Yes. HHCC makes it and Xiaomi sold it as the Mi Flora, but it now sells as the Flower Care or Flora Monitor.
About £21 on AliExpress, and delivery to the UK is free.
No. It connects to your phone over Bluetooth, within about 8 to 10 metres.
One CR2032 coin cell, which the maker says lasts about a year.
It is rated IPX5 with its rubber seal fitted, so it copes with watering but should not sit in water.
I checked the price on AliExpress on 23 October 2026. Prices and stock change.
