Joe Lycett is the Birmingham comedian who also paints, and whose first major solo exhibition is on at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery until February 2027. Here you will find our take on his art, where to see Joe Lycett’s work now for free, the prints and book you can buy, and the edition we feature.

Our take on Joe Lycett

Lycett paints bright, daft pictures, often with collaborators, and treats the jokes properly. “I take the silliness very seriously,” he told It’s Nice That in 2026.

Every Thing Must Go, at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, is his first major solo show, with around 80 to 100 works and a near life-size pink woolly mammoth called Martin from Hull at its centre. He promised “colourful and silly depictions of loads of dead stuff”, and it is free.

Joe Lycett art is unusually affordable for a famous name: his open-edition prints cost £25 for A4 and £40 for A2, and his illustrated book, Joe Lycett’s Art Hole, is £35.
