Rebecca Storm is the Montreal painter whose dark, surreal oils of masked faces, flowers and eggs are built from collaged photographs. Here you will find our take on her work, her recent shows, and where to enquire about buying.

Our take on Rebecca Storm

Storm worked as an editor and photographer before returning to the easel. “During the pandemic, I decided to give painting another try, and since then, I have just kept at it,” she told The Creative Independent in 2025.

Her paintings start from collaged photographic references, then tip into fantasy. “I think fantasy is a helpful vehicle for grappling with everyday emotional experiences that I don’t necessarily know how to visually isolate otherwise,” she said. Recurring eggs carry a meaning too: “they represent choice to me and the burden of decision.”

Enari Gallery in Amsterdam shows her work and has several 2026 paintings available on enquiry.
