Seven action cameras for cold, wet and dark days, and what each one costs in its first year
These are the best action cameras UK shops sell right now for autumn and winter use: cycling commutes in the dark, ski trips, muddy dog walks and Christmas presents. I picked seven, from the £199.99 GoPro HERO to the £519 Insta360 X5, and set each one against the same winter checks.
Those checks are the coldest temperature the maker rates it for, how deep it goes in water without a case, and how long the battery lasts. Then I added up what each camera really costs once you buy the memory card and spare battery it needs. Two of the cameras swap places once you do.
