The Suck UK Bookrest Lamp is a frosted plastic reading light shaped like the walls of a house. Lay an open book face down across the top and the book becomes the roof, so the lamp keeps your page and lights the room at the same time. It runs on USB with a warm LED, and on 4 October 2026 it cost £44.99 on Amazon UK, in stock.

Suck UK is a London design company that makes gifts and homeware. The Bookrest Lamp is a hollow house shape in frosted, semi-transparent plastic with an LED inside.
The frosting spreads the light, so you get a soft glow rather than a bright spot. Suck UK says the LED does not get hot, which matters for something you rest a book on every night.
You plug the lamp into a USB charger with the cable in the box. Suck UK does not include a plug, on the basis that most people already have a spare USB charger.
When you stop reading, you open the book at your page and lay it over the ridge. The book's cover forms the roof, and the lamp carries on as a night light.
Our gift guide for book lovers has more presents for readers.
Suck UK pitches it as a bedside reading light, but the frosted plastic spreads the light around the room rather than aiming it at the page. If you need strong, direct light, a dedicated reading lamp gives more.
There is no plug in the box, so budget for a USB charger if you do not have a spare one.
The Amazon UK rating is mixed at 3.4 out of 5. At £44.99 it costs more than a basic bedside lamp, and what you pay for is the design.
Amazon UK had the lamp in stock at £44.99 on 4 October 2026, with free returns within 30 days. Suck UK's product page has the full specification and more photos.
If you prefer a stand to hold the book open while you read, the Penguin x MOEBE book stand does that job.
