Boskke Sky Planter, Upside-Down Hanging Indoor Plant Pot

Boskke Sky Planter: the Upside-Down Hanging Plant Pot

Last updated: 5 October 2026

The Boskke Sky Planter hangs from the ceiling with the plant growing upside down out of the bottom. A reservoir inside feeds water to the roots slowly, so you water less often and nothing drips. The design came out of Central Saint Martins and has won design awards.

The current version is the Sky Planter Recycled, made from upcycled plastic. On 5 October 2026 Amazon UK had the 12cm white one for £8.34, and Boskke's UK shop sells the 9cm small for £14.95.

How the Boskke Sky Planter works

You plant into the pot the right way up, fit the mesh over the soil so it cannot fall out, then turn it over and hang it. The plant grows downwards from the base. Water goes in at the top, into the Slo-Flo reservoir, which lets it through to the roots gradually instead of all at once.

Because the planter hangs, it takes up no floor or shelf space. That makes it useful in a small flat, a kitchen or a bathroom window where every surface is already full.

What comes in the box

  • The Sky Planter pot with its Slo-Flo reservoir
  • A plastic mesh that holds the soil in
  • A ceiling hook and plastic anchor plug
  • A 30cm extension wire

Plants are not included. Boskke recommends established plants rather than seedlings.

Sizes and prices

  • Small, 9cm: £14.95 from Boskke UK
  • Medium, 12cm: £8.34 on Amazon UK, sold by a third-party seller and delivered by Amazon
  • Large, 15cm: sold by Boskke UK and other sellers on Amazon UK

The 12cm medium suits a herb, a small fern or a trailing plant like a string of pearls.

Limits

You need a ceiling or a beam that will take a screw hook, and the hook has to hold the pot, soil and water together. Renters may need permission to drill. The reservoir cuts down watering, but it does not remove it, so the plant still needs checking.

Who it suits

It suits plant owners who have run out of windowsill, and anyone furnishing a small space. To keep an eye on soil moisture without poking the pot, pair it with a plant sensor such as the FYTA Beam.

Where to buy

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Boskke Sky Planter?

The 12cm white Sky Planter Recycled was £8.34 on Amazon UK and the 9cm small was £14.95 from Boskke UK, both checked on 5 October 2026.

Does the soil fall out of an upside-down planter?

No. A plastic mesh fits over the soil before you turn the pot over, and it holds the soil in place.

How often do you water a Boskke Sky Planter?

Less often than a normal pot, because the Slo-Flo reservoir releases water slowly. How often depends on the plant, the size and the room.

Are plants included?

No. The planter comes with the hook, wire and mesh, but no plant.
