The Lechuza Classico 21 LS is a small self-watering planter with a hidden water tank in the base and a float that shows you when the tank needs filling. It stands 20cm tall and 21cm across, so it suits a single houseplant on a table or windowsill. On 4 October 2026 Amazon UK sold the white high-gloss version for £32.29, sold and dispatched by Amazon, with one left in stock. Lechuza's UK shop had it in stock for £28.89, with free delivery only on orders over £30.

The pot has two parts. The outer shell holds water at the bottom, and a removable liner holds the plant above it. A layer of Lechuza's mineral substrate, called PON, sits in the bottom of the liner and draws water up to the roots.
A float in the side of the liner rises and falls with the water. Lechuza's instructions say to refill only when the marker reaches "min", so you water less often and you can see the level without lifting the plant out.
For the first two to three weeks you water from the top as normal. Once the roots reach the tank, you fill it to the maximum and let the system take over. Lechuza says a full tank can last up to three months, though a thirsty plant in a warm room will use it much faster.
There is a screw-in drain plug in the base. Indoors you leave it in, so the tank holds water and nothing leaks onto the furniture. Outdoors you take it out, so heavy rain drains away instead of drowning the roots.
Lechuza rates the plastic as UV and frost resistant, from -30°C to 70°C. So the pot can stay out on a balcony or doorstep all year.

At 21cm across, it takes a small plant. A pothos, a peace lily or a small snake plant fits; a fiddle-leaf fig does not. Lechuza makes the Classico in larger sizes if you need more room.
Succulents and cacti are a poor match. They want the compost to dry out completely, and a permanent tank underneath works against that.
It is plastic, not ceramic. The gloss finish looks smart, but the pot is light, so a tall plant can tip it over unless you add weight in the base.
Stock was thin on 4 October 2026, with one white pot left on Amazon UK. If Amazon sells out, Lechuza's UK shop had the same pot in stock on 5 October 2026 in white and four other colours.
Amazon UK sells the white high-gloss Classico 21 LS directly, with free delivery. Lechuza's own UK shop sells it for £28.89 in five colours, though at that price it falls just under the £30 free-delivery line. The maker's Classico LS 21 product page lists the full specification and the setting-up steps.

Lechuza says up to three months on a full tank. In practice it depends on the plant, the light and how warm the room is, so check the float every week or two at first.
Only for the first two to three weeks, until the roots reach the tank. After that you fill the tank through the filling shaft and let the plant draw water up.
Yes. Take out the drain plug so rain can escape. Lechuza rates the pot for -30°C to 70°C and says it is UV resistant.
Plants that like evenly moist compost do best, such as peace lilies, ferns, pothos and herbs. Succulents and cacti prefer to dry out and are better in an ordinary pot.
