What is on Before the Dawn
The album follows the running order of the shows, in three acts:
- Act One: seven songs, including Running Up That Hill and King of the Mountain.
- Act Two: The Ninth Wave, the second side of 1985's Hounds of Love, performed in full as a piece of theatre.
- Act Three: A Sky of Honey, the suite from 2005's Aerial, also in full.
Kate Bush described the album as the audio document of the shows, and said she hoped it could stand alone as music for people who knew nothing about them.
The 2014 residency
Before the Dawn ran for 22 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo in London between August and October 2014. The shows were Kate Bush's first live concerts since 1979. The album came out on her own Fish People label on 25 November 2016. It reached number 4 in the UK albums chart and went gold.
