Sonos Ace Ultra over-ear headphones in Black, seen from the side with the Sonos logo on the ear cup

Sonos Ace Ultra

Last updated: 5 October 2026

The Sonos Ace Ultra are Sonos's second pair of over-ear headphones, and the first that join a Sonos speaker system over wifi. One press moves whatever is playing on your Sonos speakers to the headphones, and another press sends it back. Noise cancelling is up to twice as strong as the original Sonos Ace, and the battery lasts up to 35 hours with it on. Sonos sells them for £399, and on 5 October 2026 Amazon UK had the Black pair at the same price, sold by Amazon.

What the Sonos Ace Ultra are

Sonos announced the Ace Ultra on 1 September 2026, alongside the Beam Ultra soundbar and a new version of its software. The original Sonos Ace from 2024 stays on sale at £349, so the Ultra is the £50 step up.

What the extra money buys is mostly the link to the rest of a Sonos system. The original Ace could already take TV sound from a Sonos soundbar. The Ultra can also pick up music from any Sonos speaker in the house. It has more microphones, a new driver and a longer battery too.

What they do

  • Headphone linking: one press sends what is playing on your Sonos speakers, whether that is a playlist, a film or a record, to the Ace Ultra, and another press sends it back. Sonos is releasing it in Early Access, so you opt in and it may change before the full release.
  • TV sound from a soundbar: send the TV's audio from a Sonos soundbar to the headphones, Dolby Atmos included. TrueCinema adjusts the sound to your room, and head tracking keeps it in place as you move.
  • Noise cancelling: adaptive noise cancelling uses ten microphones. Sonos says it is up to twice as strong as on the Sonos Ace. Aware mode lets outside sound in.
  • Sound: a custom 40mm driver in each ear cup, which Sonos says it tuned with Grammy and Oscar-winning engineers.
  • Lossless audio: over Bluetooth with Qualcomm aptX on a phone that supports it, or through a USB-C cable.
  • Battery: up to 35 hours with noise cancelling or Aware mode on. Meanwhile, three minutes of charging gives up to three hours.
  • Replaceable parts: Sonos sells replacement ear cushions for £39 and a replacement battery kit for £25, so a worn battery does not mean a new pair.

  • Android owners with aptX phones: lossless Bluetooth works on phones that support Qualcomm aptX.

Our Sonos Ace review scored the original pair 3/5, and it covers the comfort and design the Ultra builds on.

The limits

The linking features need Sonos kit. Without a Sonos soundbar or speaker, you are paying £399 for headphones that compete with Sony and Bose on sound, noise cancelling and battery alone.

Headphone linking is in Early Access, so treat it as a feature that is still being finished.

iPhones do not support aptX. On an iPhone, lossless playback needs the USB-C cable.

They cost £50 more than the original Sonos Ace.

Where to buy them in the UK

Amazon UK sells the Black pair at £399, sold and dispatched by Amazon. The full specification and the replacement parts are on the Sonos UK product page.

If you want a speaker for the linking feature, our Sonos Era 300 page covers the Dolby Atmos speaker.
