White Flower Care plant sensor pushed into the soil of a potted rose

Flower Care plant sensor

Last updated: 23 October 2026

The Flower Care plant sensor is a small white stick that you push into a plant pot. It measures soil moisture, fertiliser level, light and temperature, then sends the readings to the Flower Care app on your phone over Bluetooth. Xiaomi used to sell it as the Mi Flora, and its maker HHCC still sells it as the Flora Monitor. On AliExpress it costs about £21 with free delivery to the UK.

What the Flower Care plant sensor is

HHCC makes the sensor, although Xiaomi sold it for years under its Mi brand. The current version works with the Flower Care app and with Xiaomi's Mijia app, so the name on the box can vary.

First, you push the probe into the soil next to the plant and pair it with your phone. Then the app compares the readings with what that plant needs and tells you whether to water, feed or move it.

What it measures

  • Soil moisture: how wet the soil is around the roots, so you know when to water.
  • Fertiliser level: worked out from the soil's electrical conductivity.
  • Light: how much light the plant gets through the day, which shows whether it needs moving.
  • Temperature: the air temperature where the pot stands, so you can spot a pot sitting too close to a radiator.

Key facts about the Flower Care plant sensor

  • Price: about £21 on AliExpress, including delivery to the UK
  • Battery: one CR2032 coin cell, which the maker says lasts about a year
  • Connection: Bluetooth, which reaches about 8 to 10 metres
  • App: Flower Care for iPhone and Android, which needs an account
  • Plant database: more than 3,000 plants
  • Water resistance: IPX5, with the rubber seal fitted
  • Size: about 13cm long and 19g

Who it suits

  • People new to house plants: the app turns the readings into plain care steps.
  • Anyone with one plant they keep losing: one sensor in that pot shows whether the problem is water, light or feed.
  • Gift buyers on a budget: it comes in under £25.

For a sensor that sends readings over Wi-Fi instead, see our FYTA Beam review.

The limits

It works over Bluetooth only, so you need to be near the plant with your phone to get new readings. Smartzone's test found it sends no notifications, so you have to open the app to check.

The same test found the coin cell flat on arrival, so have a spare CR2032 ready. Also, each sensor covers one pot, so a windowsill of five plants needs five sensors.

AliExpress sellers ship from overseas, so delivery is slower than from a UK shop. On 23 October this listing quoted four to seven days.

Where to buy the Flower Care plant sensor in the UK

The single white sensor from the Timethinker store on AliExpress costs £20.79 with free delivery. Smartzone's hands-on test covers the app and readings in detail.
