What the Rains stainless steel cups are

Rains started out making rain jackets in Denmark. In August 2025 it launched HOME AWAY, a line of brushed steel tableware, tumblers, flasks and lunch boxes. Co-founder Philip Lotko told Vogue Scandinavia the collection is "modular, minimal, and built to live anywhere".

These cups belong to that line. Each set has two cups, and each one holds 500ml, which is close to a pint. So they are big enough for a large coffee, a mug of tea or a cold drink in the garden.

What they do

• Hot and cold drinks: Rains rates them to a maximum of 200°C, well above the temperature of boiling water.
• Indoors and out: steel won't chip like ceramic, so the pair can go from the worktop to a picnic blanket.
• Easy washing: Rains lists them as dishwasher safe.
• Safe for food: they are BPA-free and certified for food contact.

The limits

Rains doesn't publish the height or diameter either, which makes it hard to know if they will fit a particular cupboard or cup holder.

Finally, the steel finish is the only colour. Shoppers after something brighter will have to look elsewhere.
