The Gomi Paul Smith speaker is a portable Bluetooth speaker with a casing made from waste plastic out of Paul Smith's own supply chain, melted into a swirly version of the brand's Signature Stripe. Gomi makes it by hand in Brighton, so no two look quite the same. On 11 October 2026 Paul Smith's UK shop had it in stock at £390, up from £330 when we first listed it.
Gomi is a Brighton design studio that makes speakers and power banks from plastics UK councils cannot recycle, powered by second-life lithium batteries. The name is Japanese for "rubbish".
For this collaboration, Paul Smith sent Gomi waste plastic from its own supply chain. Gomi melted it down and pressed it into a marbled casing in the stripe colours. Paul Smith describes the result as "a melted, psychedelic version of our beloved Signature Stripe".
Gomi builds its speakers to be taken apart and fixed. The warranty runs for two years from delivery.
After that, Gomi's repair policy says a standard out-of-warranty repair in the UK will never cost more than £50 for a speaker. That price covers postage both ways, diagnostics, parts and labour. A full overhaul is quoted separately.
For another Paul Smith collaboration in the home, see the Anglepoise Paul Smith Edition lamp.
£390 is a lot for one Bluetooth speaker. You are paying for the collaboration and the materials story as much as the sound, and Paul Smith excludes it from its promotions.
It is heavy for a portable, at just over a kilo. It also has no wall plug in the box, so you need your own USB-C charger.
Bluetooth 5.0 is an older standard. There is no Wi-Fi, no voice assistant and no multi-room system, so it will not join a Sonos or Alexa setup.
Paul Smith sells it online and lists it under its Gomi homeware collection. The product page has the full specification and delivery and returns details.
If you want Gomi's work at a lower price, the Gomi power bank uses the same recycled plastic and second-life cells.
