What the agood plant-based phone case is

agood company is a Swedish brand, and its first cases were made from the waste left over from linseed farming. The current PLNTPRTCT version uses a blend that agood lists as hemp, linseed and cellulose, combined with PBAT, a biodegradable polymer.

The newest design adds ribs inside the corners and buttons moulded into the case. agood rates it for drops of up to 3m on recent iPhones.

When you finish with a case, you can send it back through agood loop, the brand's take-back scheme. agood reprocesses the material for new products and gives you a discount on your next case.

Who it suits

It suits people who want a protective case that is not made from virgin plastic. Because agood takes the case back, it also suits anyone who swaps phones every couple of years.

If you are still choosing between greener cases, our best eco phone cases guide compares compostable, recycled and long-lasting options.

The limits

The plain case does not hold MagSafe accessories on its own. For those, agood sells a removable MagSafe ring as an add-on.

PBAT is a biodegradable plastic, not a plant. So the case is plant-based rather than plastic-free, and agood points you to its take-back scheme rather than the compost bin.

Finally, colours and patterns vary by phone. Older or less common models may come in fewer shades.

Where to buy it in the UK

agood sells the case direct and shows UK prices in pounds. John Lewis also stocks agood cases and describes agood as a Certified B Corporation.
