Goober peanut crayons are a set of eight chunky, peanut-shaped crayons made in Korea from natural bean wax. The shape is easy for small hands to grip, and the crayons stack up as toys when the drawing is done. In the UK they are sold by Moon Picnic for £27, with £3 delivery on orders under £90.
Each crayon is a rounded peanut shape, 55mm long, so a young child can hold it in a fist rather than a pencil grip. Moon Picnic says they are made from natural bean wax and non-toxic ingredients. It also says they do not stain hands and are hard to break.
The set comes in a paper box with a cotton bag for storage. Because the crayons can stand in a row or stack, they double as a simple toy.
They suit children from three who find thin crayons hard to hold. The bag also makes them easy to take out to a café or on a train.
They work as a birthday present too, since the box looks good enough to give as it is. For more ideas, see our gifts for kids and big kids guide.
At £27 for eight, they cost far more than a supermarket pack of crayons. You pay for the shape, the wax and the packaging.
Eight colours is a small palette, so older children may want more shades. Also, the age guidance is 3 and over, so they are not meant for babies.
Moon Picnic, a children's shop with a UK site, sells the peanut set and ships UK orders from England. We could not find the Goober peanut set on Amazon UK, where the peanut-shaped crayons on sale come from other brands.
