The AeroPress Steel is the AeroPress coffee maker made almost entirely from 304 stainless steel, with a double-wall vacuum-insulated chamber. It brews the same way as the plastic Original, but the chamber holds 360ml, about 20% more, and the outside stays cool while you press.
It costs £159.99 from AeroPress UK, the official UK distributor, in silver or black. That is more than four times the £35 Original, and it is not sold as a new product on Amazon UK. Prices were checked on 5 October 2026.

How the AeroPress Steel works
You put ground coffee in the chamber, add hot water, stir, then press the plunger down through a paper filter. The whole brew takes under two minutes. AeroPress calls it part French press, part pour-over and part espresso, and the result is a smooth cup with very little bitterness and no grit.
The chamber is two layers of steel with a vacuum between them. According to AeroPress, that means less heat goes into the chamber when you pour the water in, so the coffee brews hotter and you do not need to warm the brewer first. The outer wall stays cool to the touch. The filter cap does not get the same insulation, though, so it is hot straight after brewing. Run it under cold water or use a cloth to take it off.
Because the chamber is opaque, you cannot see the coffee level. AeroPress has etched fill guidance on the inside of the chamber instead, and kept the numbers 1 to 5 on the outside as part of the familiar AeroPress look.

Which AeroPress to buy
Every model in the range uses the same brew method, so the difference is material, capacity and price. On AeroPress UK, the Go travel version is £49.99, the see-through Clear is £54.99, the larger XL is £79.99 and the glass and steel Premium is £189.99. The AeroPress Original is £35 on Amazon UK.
The Steel makes sense if you want a brewer that survives a rucksack and keeps the brew hotter, and you are happy to pay for it. If you only make coffee now and then, the Original brews the same cup for £125 less.
The downsides
The price is the obvious one. At £159.99 you are paying for steel and insulation, not for better coffee, because the brew method is the same as the £35 Original.
Steel can also dent, so a drop onto a hard floor can leave a mark. Finally, the chamber is not see-through, so you have to rely on the etched markings inside rather than watching the coffee level.
The Steel is also hard to find away from AeroPress UK. Amazon UK had no new listing for it when we checked, so the maker's own shop is the place to buy it.
Who it suits
It suits people who make an AeroPress every day and want one brewer that works at home and when travelling. Campers and people who take their coffee kit to work will get the most out of the steel build.
