What is the Bodum x MoMA Caffettiera?

The Caffettiera is a plunger-style French press, and this version is the one sold through the MoMA Design Store. Bodum has made its everyday cafetière in two-tone colours for the shop, so the brewing parts are the same as the standard model. You add coarse grounds and hot water, wait four minutes, then press.

Bodum counts a cup as about 4oz, so the eight-cup label means one litre, or about four mugs. That suits two coffee drinkers.

Colours and the design

The MoMA edition comes in two-tone finishes, including Pale Blue with Pastel Green and Dark Green with Lilac.

Bodum's cafetières were shaped by long-serving designer Carsten Jørgensen, and his work for the brand is held in the V&A collection. Bodum was founded in Copenhagen in 1944.

How to get the best cup

Bodum suggests one rounded teaspoon, or one Bodum scoop, of coarse ground coffee for each 4oz cup. Pour in water at about 92 to 96°C, leave 2.5cm at the top and stir. Then put the lid on, wait four minutes and press the plunger down slowly. A coarse grind matters, because fine coffee slips past the mesh into your cup.

Where to buy it in the UK

Bodum UK lists it at £39.90, but it was out of stock when I checked on 9 October 2026, and I struggled to find another UK shop with it in stock. Bodum charges £11.50 for standard delivery, with free delivery over £65.
